Water in your iPhone? Not if it’s up to Siri Shortcuts!

Although your iPhone is probably water and dust resistant, it is still possible that some liquid gets into your device. In this article, we explain what you can do to get the water droplets out of your phone, with some help from Siri Shortcuts.

A smartphone with an IP68 rating is called a waterproof phone. However, this does not mean that water cannot get into your iPhone with water resistance certification at all. OMT editor Sabine is happy to explain how that works.

How does water get into my waterproof iPhone?

Over time, the water and dust resistance of your iPhone decreases. Apple also says so on its support page. The Cupertino company therefore advises against swimming with your phone. Fall damage or disassembling the device can also reduce the water resistance.

It is therefore not one hundred percent preventable that moisture or liquid will ever end up in your iPhone, such as in the speakers. If this is the case, the Siri Shortcuts app can help you get the water out of your device. That’s right.

Siri Shortcuts: a handy shortcut

The Water Eject shortcut in Siri Shortcuts plays a sound that causes your device’s speakers to vibrate. This will shake any liquid in your iPhone out of the device.

Open Safari and navigate to ShortcutsGallery. Download the shortcut Water Eject here. Press Get Shortcut so that Siri Shortcuts opens. Then press Add command. Now all you have to do is start the assignment and click Start Water Ejection to push.

Your iPhone’s volume is automatically set to maximum. The clip starts playing and you hear a vibrating sound at the speakers. After a few seconds, the process is already done. Do you think there is still moisture in your device? Then repeat the Water Eject shortcut. Inside no time is your device freed from the water!
