Weeronline is one of the most popular weather apps in the Netherlands. But how does it work, and what can you do with it?
This way you get everything out of the Weeronline app
Weeronline has been a hugely popular weather app for years. Here you can see at a glance what the current weather is, and what the current weather forecast will be for the coming days. You can also immediately see what the forecast is with regard to precipitation in the next few hours. But you can do even more with it. With these tips you get the most out of the Weeronline app.
1. Organize your own homepage
In the first screen of the Weather Online app you can immediately see what the current weather is in the place where you are. You see the forecast for the day parts and the expected rainfall and sun forecast in the coming hours. If you scroll further down, you will also see what the expectation is for the rest of the week. Extra handy: you also see the weather report of the day, including expected wind direction, precipitation, etc.
Below you can see which activities best suit the weather, what the snow condition is when you are on winter sports. and what the expectation is for complaints with hay fever, rheumatism and migraine. Are you not bothered by one or more complaints, or are you not going on a winter sports holiday? Then you can disable these tiles.
- To do this, go to the tab menu at the bottom right of the screen;
- Tap on ‘Enable / disable tiles’;
- Here you can choose whether you want to see the tiles for activities, hay fever, rheumatism migraine, or winter sports on your home screen;
- The tiles are on by default, but to turn them off, turn off the slider next to them.
In the menu under ‘turn notifications on / off’ you can also choose to receive a notification in case of extreme weather or important weather news. You can also switch off the weather news counter here.
2. Add your own places
In the app you can add the places where you are most often, or to see the weather of someone you know. If you want to save the place where you are, tap the asterisk in the home screen at the top right of the screen. Under the tab my places you first see the place where you are, provided you have the location services turned on of course.
To add a place, tap the plus sign at the bottom right of the screen. Here are the largest places in the Netherlands as a suggestion, but you can also enter a place in the search bar. You can also add cities abroad. This way you can quickly see at a glance what the weather is like in a particular place.
3. Read the latest weather news
In the ‘News’ tab you will find all the important news related to the weather. For example, you can see news about the high water level, about flu epidemics, or what the weather will be like during the spring break.
If you tap on a news headline, you can read the article. If you want to share the message, you can tap the share icon at the top right of the screen to share it via another app.
4. Assessment of outdoor activities in the current weather
A handy feature of Weeronline is that the app gives a rating between one and ten per outdoor activity. The assessment is based on whether it is okay with today’s weather and the two consecutive days. For example, on a rainy day, the activity ‘barbecue’ will be given the number 1.
You can find this rating at the bottom of the home screen, provided you have enabled this tile of course. Tap on ‘All activities’ to see a complete overview. A good activity during a rainy day is of course going to the cinema. Weeronline has a partnership with Vue cinemas. That is why at the top of this list you will see a review of the ‘Vue cinema’ activity and which films are playing. If the weather is bad, this activity will of course receive a mark of 10.
