There’s no shortage of new iPhone apps, but most aren’t worth downloading. The editors of iPhoned Every Sunday, therefore, we reflect on the best iOS apps of the past week. In our opinion, these apps, games and updates are worth downloading.
Last week’s best iOS apps
The Apple App Store is working overtime every week. New apps, updates to existing applications and games appear all the time. You probably don’t notice this much, because most of the programs are not worth downloading. iPhoned therefore separates the wheat from the chaff every Sunday. Here are the best iOS apps, updates, and games from last week.
1. NS
As of this week, you can register your train journey to help NS map out how busy the railway is. This is important due to the corona measures. Once you have registered the ride, the company will also keep you informed of any track changes or if your ride suddenly stops working.

You need the free NS app to register your train journey in advance. From now on you will find a new button in the My Travel tab: ‘Register new train journey’. From here you will be forwarded to the NS website where you can register your journey. This is all voluntary, by the way: even without registration you can continue to take the train.
2. Plague Inc.: The Cure
At the start of the corona pandemic, Plague Inc. – a game in which you try to infect the world with, yes, a dangerous virus – suddenly very popular. Last week, however, the game turned the tables. In the new The Cure expansion, the goal is no longer to wipe out the world’s population.

Instead, you get started with a solution. The aim of The Cure is to stop the spreading pandemic. You do this by researching the virus, conducting thorough source and contact research and developing a vaccine.
3. NOVA
Do you know where your money is going? The new household book app from Nationale Nederlanden tries to help you with this. NOVA is linked to your bank account and therefore knows how much is coming in, where the money is going and how much you can still spend until your next paycheck.
That way, Nationale Nederlanden’s free app tries to give you more peace of mind. After all, a healthy financial management starts with an overview. After you have linked NOVA to your account once, the incoming and outgoing transactions are automatically loaded and linked to the correct category, such as groceries or personal care. NOVA is available to anyone with a Dutch current account.
4. Fruit Ninja 2
Fruit Ninja is back with a vengeance. In part two you once again take on the role of a fruit-devouring ninja who has to chop apples, bananas, mangoes and oranges in half as quickly as possible. By combining certain types of fruit you get more points.

The first Fruit Ninja came out in 2010 and was one of the first popular iPhone games. Part two largely builds on the original, but fortunately has been graphically polished. Fruit Ninja 2 also has a multiplayer mode, for example. That way you can compete against other fruit ninjas from around the world.
