Weekend Poll: Should iPhone apps also be available outside the App Store?

Last week it became clear that the European Union has no intention of leaving Apple alone. After the USB-C obligation, it also wants to oblige Apple to allow third-party download stores on the iPhone.

We are of course very curious about how the community around the American company thinks about the situation. Therefore an excellent question to ask in the Weekend Poll of this week.

Install iPhone apps outside of the App Store

Consumers with an iPhone in their pocket know how installing applications works. You open the Apple App Store, search for the relevant app and install it. Not only an accessible, but also a safe way to provide your smartphone with useful new additions.

With Android it works slightly differently. Where the process works the same via the official download store (the Google Play Store), these consumers are offered an extra option.

It is also possible to download applications from third-party stores or simply from the web. Something that the European Union seems to think is a good idea. It plans to force Apple, which does not allow this on the iPhone, to use the same tactic.

Is that a good idea or should we not want this? Let us know in the poll below:

Of course you can always substantiate your answer in the comments below this article.

Apple Pencil (first-generation) on new iPad ridiculous

In the previous edition of the Weekend Poll we cited a striking decision from Apple. The new iPad (tenth-generation) has a USB-C connection, but still does not support the second-generation Apple Pencil.

We asked you if this is a logical decision or if it makes no sense at all. The answer couldn’t have been clearer.

A total of 397 people completed the poll from the previous edition. Of those, 322 people (81.11 percent) agreed that the lack of support for the newer Apple Pencil is downright ridiculous. Of the remainder, 66 people (16.62 percent) said they didn’t care about the decision and 9 people (2.27 percent) fully understood Apple’s choice.

Curious about the result of the Weekend Poll of this week? You will read it in next week’s edition!
