Weekly overview 19: Pride Edition Apple Watch strap, possible end of Vision Pro and more

Google recently introduced a new feature that gives users more control over the news on the front page of Google Search. Previously, search results were determined entirely by algorithms, but now users can influence which news sources are given a more prominent place.

With this expansion, Google is responding to the increasing demand for personalized information. Users want not only relevant results, but also content from trusted and favorite websites that match their interests and preferences. This makes it now easy to add Apple Tips as a news source and other favorite websites.

Apple has released a new firmware update for the AirPods Pro 3 and AirPods Max 2. The new version number is 8B40 for the Pro and 8E258 for the Max, and includes bug fixes and optimizations. Previously, new features were also introduced in conjunction with software update 26, including: camera control functions, sleep detection and battery notifications.

You can read up on the Apple website a support document (Dutch) back which improvements and fixes Apple has made and/or new options have been added. The AirPods are automatically provided with the new firmware, but updating manually is unfortunately a difficult job.

Apple appears to have largely lost confidence in the Vision Pro, now that last fall’s M5 update failed to boost sales. Recent Posts indicate that internal work on the spatial computer has been halted and teams have been moved to other projects, while Apple continues to offer the current M5 version.

It previously became clear that the cheaper Vision Air, which was seen for years as a logical sequel to the Vision Pro, would have been scrapped. Interestingly, Apple is now shifting its focus from a broader mixed reality strategy to AI and AR glasses.
