What is the biological function of the clitoris?

Female horses, dogs, cats, cows,… (all mammals?) have a clitoris. In humans you might say that the function of the clitoris is to stimulate sexual pleasure and thus sexual contact, but I have my doubts that this is also the case for other mammals. Does the clitoris have another function?

Answer

Best,

The clitoris has no other function as far as we know.

It is important to know that the clitoris is the analogue of the glans penis, which is certainly necessary to stimulate the male factor. Fertilization works better when pleasure is accompanied by it. In order to safeguard the survival of the species, it was apparently more important to give the males a positive stimulus. The clitoris is embryologically the “remnant” of this in women, but it is not as well equipped to achieve sexual pleasure as it is in men.

kind regards,
