What is the name of the phenomenon in which the two sides of an individual have a different phenotype?

Various color forms are known of the house mother (moth Noctua pronuba). I captured an individual where each half of the body has the phenotype of a different ‘shape’. Right side of head and thorax, right wing on the one hand, left wing and left side of head and thorax are strikingly different in colour.

Thus, during the development of this individual, other genes must have been activated, probably when the left and right sides are captured.

Does this phenomenon have a specific name?

Asker: Diederik, 33 years old

Answer

This phenomenon is called gynandromorphism (from Greek: gyne = woman and andro = man). This phenomenon is mainly known in butterflies, but also occurs in other insects, in crabs and lobsters (see link) and even in birds.
