What percent chance is there that the earth will end in the year 2010?

If all the planets line up, how big will the disasters be? So big that humanity cannot survive?

Answer

The answer is very simple: if the planets are all lined up, there is still no measurable increase in the risk of disaster.

As has been written many times on this site, disaster scenarios like those forecasts around 2012 (not 2010) are absolutely unscientific.

In other words, the planets will not line up at all, but a little less haphazardly in the sky than usual. So they are more or less in the same direction as seen from the sun. However, there is no evidence whatsoever that analogous stocks have given rise to disasters in the past, nor is there any physical mechanism for this.
