The correct storage capacity
While most Android phones offer you the possibility to add storage space on a microSD card, iPhones never have that, so make sure you have sufficiently built-in capacity. Fortunately, the newest models start at 64 GB, probably enough if you don’t feel the need to have dozens of films or hundreds of albums on your phone (instead of streaming from the cloud) and you think it’s great to only the last one or two Years of your own photos and videos to keep on board, and leave the rest on your Mac at home. If you are the type of user that needs 128 GB, you probably know. Regarding the capacities of 256 and 512 GB or even 1 TB that are now offered, which are strict for creative professionals or people with serious content habits.

The best moment
It may sound obvious, but just after Apple announces new iPhones, the ideal time is to buy a new iPhone. This does not apply to all technical products: on the day of the launch you often pay too much compared to the discounts that retailers offer later. Iphones, on the other hand, hardly vary in price, except when they are extended by Apple for another year as a cheaper alternative. With the launch of the iPhone XS and XR, for example, the iPhone 7 and 8 were reduced by 100 euros. The buy iPhone 15 Is currently recommended, since the price has dropped but you still get good functions and specifications.
Consider refurbished
iPhones do not belong to the products that Apple sells refurbished, but others do, including the large telephone stores and networks. Read the small print: lower qualities have refurbished scratches, wear spots and chips, but still work completely, while the highest quality usually means that a phone has been returned virtually untouched. You get a warranty and your legal rights are still applicable, although you will not be the same as for brand new.
Note aging
Do you think of a used iPhone? Check if it runs the latest version of iOS, or whether it can be updated (iOS-Upgrades are free). Scroll on the iOS page of apple Down to see which devices are compatible with the current version (which is now out or will appear soon – iOS 18 at the time of writing). Do not buy an iPhone that cannot run this, because you set yourself to use new functions you need but are not available because the phone does not work on the latest iOS.
