WhatsApp is working hard behind the scenes to develop new features for groups. These WhatsApp communities make it easier, among other things, to create and manage multiple chat groups.
New features for groups in WhatsApp
You can already create groups in WhatsApp, but the options in a group were rather limited. That now seems to be slowly changing, because in a new version of WhatsApp there seems to be a function for creating ‘Communities’. This feature is not yet available in the public beta and it will probably be a while before you can really get started with it.
WhatsApp communities are coming
The WhatsApp Communities can be compared a bit with a Discord server. Here you will find different chat groups or channels. A channel can have multiple groups and these channels belong to different, umbrella administrators.
In WhatsApp Communities, admins also get more options to manage groups (or communities). Admins may also invite other users to a community. This can be done manually or via a special invitation link. This depends on whether the group is private or not.
