WhatsApp message from an unknown number, now what?

WhatsApp is also popular with cyber criminals. In various ways, they use WhatsApp for their scams and spreading viruses. Therefore, never respond to messages of which you do not know who they are or what they are about. Therefore, do not open links and do not download files.

WhatsApp gives a warning if someone receives a message from an unknown number. The recipient of the message can then do three things: report the message, block the sender, or save the phone number. You can also simply answer.

1. Report
   Choose this if you don’t want anything to do with the person. Tap on Report (Android) / Report (iOS).
2. To block
   Do this if it’s an untrustworthy message or if you don’t want to hear from the sender. Tap on To block (Android) / block (iOS).
3. Save contact
   Select this if you know from whom the message comes and you want to contact this person. Tap on Add to contacts (Android) / Put in contacts (iOS).
