It has recently become more difficult to take screenshots in WhatsApp. Where you could previously make a screen recording of almost all screens in the application, WhatsApp is introducing more and more restrictions. The messaging service now no longer allows you to take a screenshot of someone’s profile photo.
Do you still take a screen recording of a profile photo? You will then see a message that the recording has been blocked by WhatsApp. According to WhatsApp, this is necessary to guarantee the privacy of users. There is now no way to take screenshots of profile photos on WhatsApp. The profile photos of other users are also shielded when taking a screen video.
Taking screenshots is becoming increasingly difficult
The fact that WhatsApp no longer allows taking screenshots of profile photos follows a series of previous measures. For example, it has no longer been possible to make a screen recording of a one-off photo or video on WhatsApp. For photos and videos with a one-time view, you already received a similar message if you tried to take a screenshot. This is now also the case with profile photos.
WhatsApp is making it increasingly difficult to take screenshots. It is still possible to make a screen recording of your chats, WhatsApp has not yet taken any measures in this regard. There is a good chance that this will change in the future. You may then be able to set whether users can take a screenshot of your conversation, giving you more control over your privacy.
