If you buy a new iPhone, iPad or Mac, Apple promises that you will receive three months of Apple TV Plus for free. But where can you find it?
Free Apple TV Plus: where?
Apple TV Plus is a streaming service that you don’t need all year long, because the offering is relatively small compared to other services. If you grab a free month here and there, you can binge the best stuff and move on. That’s why it’s so nice that Apple gives away free months when you buy a new device.
When you shop at Apple and you look at a new iPhone, iPad or Mac, the benefits will say that you get three months of Apple TV Plus with the text “3 months of free binge-worthy movies and TV shows.” But when your new device boots up and you want to watch Apple TV Plus, you’re charged. How does that work?
Activate free months
To accept the three free months, start up your new device and sign in with your Apple ID. Then open the Apple TV app. The offer will automatically appear on the screen. Sometimes you have to scroll down a bit to get the offer.
Tap the offer to accept it, after which you may have to fill in some information such as a valid proof of payment. You can then cancel the subscription immediately, after which you can simply watch for three months and you will not get a surprise bill afterwards.
Please note that you must activate the offer within three months of setting up your new device.
I don’t see my free Apple TV Plus
Now, you may have turned on and set up your brand new device, but you are not getting this offer at all.
That’s because you probably didn’t read the fine print. Not surprising, because it’s small for a reason. You only get this offer if you haven’t activated three months or a whole year of free Apple TV Plus before.
So if you don’t see the offer when you open the Apple TV app, you’re not entitled to the offer. Unfortunately.
Get more free months
That doesn’t mean that the free months are completely over, because there are regular promotions via other parties that still give you free months of Apple TV Plus. For example, with an LG television or a PlayStation game console. Have a look around and who knows, you might be lucky.
