Which plant is this?

I would like to know what this plant is called, also popularly called Paris-by-night. It is about half a meter in size and in the colors yellow, red, white, pink. Little black balls come up, which is the seed. The root of this plant is a carrot and it comes back every year because the seed falls off (small black balls).

Answer

Dear Yves,

This is a miracle flower (Mirabilis jalapa L.) from the tobacco family. This plant is native to Mexico and the flowers can contract several times in the morning and unfurl again in the evening. By the way, it is not the seeds that fall off, but the fruits that contain the seed!
