Which plant is this? I have been searching in vain for the name for several months.

Answer

Dear Staff,

This is a begonia. There are more than 1000 Begonia species, you may be familiar with very different types, but the variation in leaf shapes is especially great with begonias. Based on your photo and commonly grown species, I would think a Begonia heracleifolia. To make a better identification you should be able to view the flower of the plant.

Lee Lee.
