Why you should not close the applications on your iPhone

There are many misunderstandings when it comes to the iPhone and iOS, the operating system. For example, there are people who close applications immediately after use, or after a certain period of time, to save battery. Well thought out, but unfortunately not correct.

Closing applications on your iPhone does not help the battery. In fact, it doesn’t last as long as if you just leave them open. Why? We explain that to you!

Don’t close apps on your iPhone

Closing applications on your iPhone every so often: it’s something I’ve been doing myself for a while. The thinking behind it is actually quite good. Many iOS users think that closing apps reduces activity on your iPhone. The result is a battery that lasts longer than if you didn’t. Or so is generally thought.

In practice, however, it puts a heavier load on your battery. As soon as you go from an application to the home screen of your iPhone or other app, the device pauses it, as it were. In this way, “open” apps have little or no influence on the battery life of your smartphone. That only comes into play when you use them.

When you do that, your iPhone will pick up the app where you left it. Starting it up therefore takes little to no energy. If you have completely closed the application, it will have to be started again from the beginning and that simply costs more energy.

It will take some getting used to, but you no longer have to close the apps on your iPhone. Not for the battery, at least.
