Apple usually comes up with a new Apple event around October. But will that also happen this year? And what can you expect?
Will there be an Apple event in October (or not?)
There are usually about four Apple events per year. There will be an Apple event in the spring and around June you will of course be ready for the annual WWDC. Then there is the iPhone event in September and there is often a fourth event in the fall. Unfortunately, it looks like we will miss this last event this year.
Reliable Apple expert Mark Gurman said earlier this month that he does not expect there to be an Apple event in October. He thinks this because he believes Apple doesn’t have enough products to show. There will therefore be no major new iPad or Mac releases this year.
Minor upgrades for iPad and Mac
There is a chance that we will see a new iPad in October this year. That could be an iPad mini, an iPad Air or a new iPad. But if so, then it’s just a minor upgrade. An iPad Pro with an OLED display or an M3 chip is probably not available this year.
It is also possible that there will be a new Mac, with an M3 chip. This could be a MacBook Air, MacBook Pro (13 inches), a Mac mini or an iMac (24 inches). If Apple decides to release these Macs in 2023, it will do so via press releases.
Kuo: no M3 Macs this year
By the way, Ming-Chi Kuo thinks that Apple will not release any new Macbooks with an M3 chip this year. According to him, that leaves only the desktop models that may appear.
It is not the first time that Apple has not planned a new event in October. There was also no event in October last year. If we look at previous years, there was an October event in 2013, 2014, 2016, 2018, 2020 and 2021. But it looks like Apple is skipping again this year.
