Microsoft has announced the Universal Windows Platform along with Windows 10. Developers can use this platform to create apps that work on multiple devices with different screen sizes. Universal apps for Windows or UWP apps can be found in the Windows Store and can be used on a Windows 10 tablet, a Windows 10 PC or even a Xbox Oneconsole. As long as it has Windows 10 or a newer version on it.
What is the difference with WhatsApp Desktop or WhatsApp Web?
Of course, there are already ways to use WhatsApp on your PC or laptop, such as WhatsApp Desktop as an application or WhatsApp Web in the browser. Still, this Universal app for Windows is different as it takes over the look and feel of Windows apps. In addition, this Windows app also works with the new multi-device feature. So you can use WhatsApp with multiple devices, including your Windows PC, without having to connect your phone to it.
Where can I download that WhatsApp UWP app?
The beta version of this WhatsApp UWP app you can through this link download from the Microsoft Store. Please note, it is a beta version so the app may function differently than you are used to. Some features such as dark mode, wallpapers, archived chats, status updates and stickers are still missing, but will WABetaInfo will be added in upcoming updates. Despite being a beta version, the app works here without any problems for the time being. If you do come across something that is not working properly, you can report it via the new Feedback button.
Once you have downloaded and installed the app, you can link your account via the QR code. That works the same way as with WhatsApp Desktop and WhatsApp Web.
