Do you have a car in mind and want to quickly check when the MOT expires or what the consumption is, then a license plate checker comes in handy. With the new Kenteken Check app, you can do this on your iPhone and Apple Watch.

There are a number of different apps on the Dutch market that allow you to check the generally known data such as model, version, horsepower, consumption, MOT expiry date and much more, using a license plate. Kenteken Check is a new, similar app from computer science student Jan Jaap de Groot.
Check license plate on your Apple Watch
What should make the app unique from the other apps on the market is the fact that you can use your Apple Watch to request information. Using voice control, you enter the license plate number, after which you can select from a menu which information you want to find out about the vehicle. By tapping on this a new overview opens, in which the data of the car is displayed.
License plate Check can of course also be used on your iPhone or iPad. The search options are a bit more extensive there. For example, it is not only possible to search by license plate, but also by brand, model or vehicle type. For example, you will find all makes of vehicles that have a Dutch license plate and the results can be further filtered on, among other things, color and consumption. Incidentally, the data found that have been requested because you searched by license plate are stored locally, so that you can also view them offline.
The data from the Kenteken Check database comes from the Kenteken Open Data of the Rijksdienst voor Wegverkeer (RDW). No data is therefore provided about, for example, purchase prices or the current market value.
