The eyes start to itch again, the noses start to sniffle and breathing becomes more difficult. In short: there is pollen in the air again. These Dutch hay fever apps will help you through the pollen season.
The best hay fever apps in the Netherlands
Hay fever season is in full swing, but luckily there are plenty of iOS apps to lend you a hand. This way you can see every morning what the expectation is for that day, and children can easily show what is bothering them with a special children’s app. Here are our four favorite hay fever apps for your iPhone.

1. Pollen news
Pollennieuws is one of the best-known and most useful apps. The app presents the pollen forecast in dry weather on a map of the Netherlands. Colors indicate the magnitude of the ‘threat’ on the map. Users can assign a number to how much hay fever they suffer that day and indicate what the symptoms are. The reports help Pollennieuws map out where hay fever is most affected.
In addition, the app presents handy statistics, with which you can see how many Dutch people have made reports today, what the average hay fever figure is and what the most symptoms are. You can also see that regionally. The app also offers more information about pollen and the trees and grasses they come from.
2. Rainfall radar
We know Buienradar as the app that determines whether or not you take an umbrella with you, but there will also be a Pollenradar available in the coming months. This special part of the app contains its own radar, which shows exactly how much pollen is floating around per region.
What makes the Pollenradar especially useful is the scroll bar at the bottom of the screen with which you can look up to five days ahead. This way you can estimate whether your hay fever complaints will increase in the coming days or whether you will suffer less from it.

3. Allergogo
Allergogo mainly focuses on children with hay fever. The colorful app makes it possible for children to report complaints in an understandable way. For example, they can tap the nose of a doll if it bothers them, so that parents get a better view of their child’s situation.
The app is intended for people who have already been diagnosed with hay fever. The application can then be used during the day to map out the complaints and monitor the use of medication.
4. A.Vogel Hay Fever Weather Forecast
This app is years old now, but still presents the pollen news in a pretty good way. The Hay Fever Weather Forecast looks most like a traditional weather forecast, with a map of the Netherlands and only a few icons that indicate the pollen. The color indicates the pollen count. From green at low load to red at high load.
The app presents the local pollen news for no less than five days. On the front page there is even a text message about today’s pollen day. Keep in mind that the app comes from A. Vogel. Although the app advertises eye drops against hay fever, the app seems reliable.
