We are heading for the summer holidays, but many cannot fully disconnect and enjoy their vacation. Almost half of the Dutch holidaymakers (47%) are worried about things at home, whereby the safety of their home comes to the fore.
A national study commissioned by Ring shows that almost half of the people (47%) are worried about things at home, while they should actually enjoy their well -deserved vacation. Asked for specific concerns, it appears that the security of the house is at the top of the list (54%), followed by the maintenance of the garden and plants (34%), packages and mail delivery (23%) and unexpected visitors (16%).
Verel people are soon worried
For many, the concern starts early: 21% of the respondents report that they are already starting to worry as soon as they leave their house. And 19% starts to worry as soon as they reach their holiday destination. This concern is not unfounded, because in the past some of the Dutch (27%) have had to deal with problems in the house during their absence, such as burglaries, missed deliveries and damage to property.
Cameras and video doorbells
Technology is increasingly the preferred solution for conscious travelers. The research shows that 29% of Dutch people use Smart Home devices or security cameras to illuminate the worries about their home, while 28% regularly check in remotely via apps or video doorbells. The most meaningful thing is that 53% of the respondents would find it easier to relax on vacation if they could virtually guard their home.
Smart home security systems such as Ring pack these worries by offering functions such as live image, with which you can see a video of the home real-time, two-way speech, with which you can communicate with visitors and motion detection to warn homeowners about activity around their home. Functions that are all accessible via a smartphone, from any place in the world.
