Xiaomi today announces the new Xiaomi 12 series with the Xiaomi 12 Pro, the Xiaomi 12 and the Xiaomi 12X. This flagship series focuses on the cameras that, thanks to an extra large sensor and advanced AI algorithms, can take professional photos, even in very dark conditions.
With the Xiaomi 12 series, Xiaomi aims to provide users with a very modern video studio, an entertainment powerhouse and an all-round enhanced experience through the improvements in the AI ​​algorithm and the powerful Snapdragon processor.
Cameras
Like many other smartphone brands, such as the Samsung Galaxy S22, Xiaomi focuses on shooting in dark conditions. In addition, the devices offer much more (top) performance, but first the cameras.
With the Xiaomi 12 series, users should be able to capture studio-quality shots, whether in challenging lighting conditions or moving objects. All three models are equipped with a professional triple camera setup for versatile shooting. That’s why they feature a 50MP wide-angle camera, which features 8K recording capabilities on both Xiaomi 12 Pro and Xiaomi 12.
The Xiaomi 12 Pro stands out with its state-of-the-art triple 50MP camera, which is equipped with a Sony IMX707 extra large sensor. The sensor captures large amounts of light and offers faster focus speeds and greater color accuracy. The Xiaomi 12 and Xiaomi 12X have a 13MP ultra wide-angle camera and a 5MP telephoto macro camera to capture images from different perspectives.
In addition to hardware updates, the Xiaomi 12 and Xiaomi 12 Pro, as mentioned earlier, also feature revamped AI algorithms. AI Cinema is available on all three smartphones and offers numerous creative video editing options such as Parallel World, Freeze Frame Video and Magic Zoom modes. These AI innovations make it easier to capture every moment, even in low light or moving objects. The Xiaomi ProFocus intelligently identifies and tracks objects, preventing blurry or out-of-focus shots of moving or hidden subjects. The autofocus options for eyes and face have also been improved. Thanks to Ultra Night Video, you can also record videos in extremely low light.
Processor
The Xiaomi 12 series features advanced Qualcomm Snapdragon mobile platforms to drive performance. The Xiaomi 12 Pro and Xiaomi 12 set the standard with a Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor – Qualcomm’s most advanced mobile platform. The processor is built on a 4nm chip and offers 30% more GPU graphics rendering and 25% more power efficiency compared to the previous generation.
The Xiaomi 12X is powered by the flagship 5G processor Snapdragon 870. All three devices come with UFS 3.1 for fast charging and data transfer speeds, paired with LPDDR5 RAM for memory speeds of up to 6,400 Mbps.
The smartphones have a high-quality cooling system, consisting of a large Vapor Chamber and multiple layers of graphite to provide good cooling performance.
Screen and sound
All three phones offer a nice display on an AMOLED Dot Display with A+ DisplayMate rating and TrueColor support. The phones are equipped with scratch-resistant Corning Gorilla Glass Victus and support Dolby Vision. The Xiaomi 12 series also supports HDR 10+. In addition, the Xiaomi 12 Pro is SGS Eye Care Display certified, which means that the device limits visual damage during long user sessions.
The Xiaomi 12 Pro’s highly energy-efficient 6.73-inch WQHD+ display uses AdaptiveSync Pro to intelligently adjust the dynamic LTPO display between 1Hz and 120Hz according to the content.
The Xiaomi 12 and Xiaomi 12X offer more than 68 billion colors on the 6.28-inch full-HD+ screens and both feature 120Hz AdaptiveSync for a vibrant and flicker-free screen.
The Xiaomi 12 series features SOUND BY Harman Kardon and Dolby Atmos. The Xiaomi 12 Pro’s quad speakers, in the form of two tweeters and two woofers, deliver clear details from the highest notes to the lowest bass. The Xiaomi 12 and Xiaomi 12X both deliver balanced stereo sound for immersive games or videos.
Battery and Charging
The latest flagship devices offer excellent charging speeds and security. The Xiaomi 12 Pro has the very fast 120W Xiaomi HyperCharge. With a battery of 4,600mAh, you can fully charge the device in Boost mode in just 18 minutes. The Xiaomi 12 and Xiaomi 12X have 4,500mAh batteries in compact housings. Both devices support 67W wired turbo charging, with which you can quickly continue. The Xiaomi 12 Pro and Xiaomi 12 also support 50W wireless charging and 10W reverse charging.
Both the Xiaomi 12 Pro and the Xiaomi 12 use Xiaomi AdaptiveCharge. A smart charging algorithm that adapts to your charging habits and extends battery life.
Iconic design
Thanks to the distinctive and user-oriented design of the Xiaomi 12 series, they lie comfortably in your hand. The slimmer, high-capacity batteries with narrower notch save valuable space. The Xiaomi 12 Pro’s 6.73-inch screen is housed in a slim frame with refined 3D curves. The 6.28-inch screen of the Xiaomi 12 and Xiaomi 12X is also only 69.9 mm wide and is accentuated by smooth curves for a perfect fit. All three devices are available in Gray, Purple and Blue.
Software
To further optimize the user experience, the Xiaomi 12 series features MIUI 13, which was released worldwide earlier this year. The update includes faster storage, higher background process efficiency, smarter processing, and longer battery life. New features in the enhanced experience include Xiaomi’s proprietary Liquid Storage, Atomized Memory, Focused Algorithms, and Smart Balance.
