The extensive camera app Obscura 2 is temporarily available for free download from the Apple Store app. We show you how to do this.
Obscura 2 Free Download with Apple Store App
The Apple Store app is basically the company’s virtual advertising brochure. Based on your Apple devices, potentially interesting accessories and new products are recommended. Consider a set of AirPods if you have just purchased a new iPhone. But you can also use the app to browse the digital Apple Store at your leisure.
To get more people to download the app, Apple regularly hands out presents. This is also the case today: temporarily you can download the sleekly designed Obscura 2 for free. You do this like this:
- Install the Apple Store app;
- Tap the ‘Discover’ tab and scroll down;
- Here you see the Obscura 2 logo as a featured app. Tap on ‘Download now for free’;
- In the next screen, select ‘Download now for free’ again;
- You will be automatically redirected to the App Store, where the download code has already been entered for you;
- Tap Redeem to use the code and download the app.
Endless camera features
The camera of Obscura 2 has a lot of features and you can set it completely manually. The app is therefore not only useful for some nice filters, but also very suitable for practicing with photography and manually setting your iPhone camera. It is possible to save your photos in various file formats, including RAW, HEIC, JPEG and Live Photo.
HEIC squeezes higher quality photos into a small file size. Would you like to edit photos? Then RAW is ideal, because this file type stores more details and is finer with post-processing. The iPhone’s Camera app itself does not support such formats.
The Obscura camera can be set to include flash, grids, ISO value, shutter speed and white balance. You can also focus the lens yourself or set a timer. The app has its own library of your captured photos.
Here you can easily edit a photo afterwards and all metadata can also be found. Handy if you want to see what the settings were for that one perfect record. Filters are also included in this camera app. These can be added both before and afterwards.

Obscura 2 also has the portrait mode that can be found on the iPhone 8 Plus and iPhone X. Be quick: the promotion is valid until September 25th. After this you can still download it for 5.49 euros.
