If you want to send large files, your e-mail program is not always the best option, because many programs only allow you to send a maximum number of MBs of files. Fortunately, there are various services with which you can still send large files. We list the best.
WeTransfer
One of the reasons to get excited about WeTransferis the fact that the interface is so simple that anyone can understand it. You simply click on the button Add files, enter your e-mail address, the address of the recipient and of course the accompanying message, and you’re done. The recipient receives a link with which the file (or files) can be downloaded for a period of 10 days. They are then deleted from the server. Also read: Send files quickly with Infinit.
With WeTransfer you can send up to 2 GB of files at a time for free. More is also possible (as well as a longer storage time), but you will pay for it.

DropSend
An alternative to WeTransfer is DropSend. This service is almost identical to the aforementioned service, with the difference that you get twice as much capacity, namely 8 GB. In addition, the files are kept just a little longer (namely 14 days). The interface is just as simple, you just need to enter a security code. Not a big hurdle, of course. What is a disadvantage is that there is a limit to the free use of this service. However, you must create an account to use this service. You can only send files for free five times a month. If you want more, you need to take a paid account.

SendAnywhere
Also a service for sending large files, but in a completely different way, is SendAnywhere. With SendAnywhere you do not have to enter an email address, and there is no limit on the size of files you can send. The disadvantage? Your files will remain online for up to ten minutes, after which time they will be deleted unless you use the 24-hour option. When you upload a file you will receive a code. Anyone who has that code can download the files. But you shouldn’t wait long, because you only have a few minutes.

Dropbox
Dropbox is much more than just a platform for sending files, but it is often forgotten that it is one of the possibilities. The basic version of Dropbox gives you 2GB of storage space. If you want to store more files online, you can choose from two subscriptions that cost between 10 and 15 euros. For this you get respectively 2 TB or even 3 TB of storage at your disposal.
It’s a handy website that has apps for Windows, Android, iOS and OS X, so you can always access your files on any platform.
Create a free account via dropbox.com by pressing Register to click and fill in your details. After that you can choose to download Dropbox as a program, but you can also continue to use the web version. Upload a file by clicking the icon of a sheet of paper with a plus sign in it. When the file is uploaded, you will see it in the appropriate folder. By moving your mouse over the file and on the right side Share you can share the file. You can choose to enter the recipient’s email address via Dropbox, or manually copy the link and send it via Facebook, for example. The recipient only has to click on the link to view or download the file.
By default, the download will expire after 24 hours. If you have a Professional account, you can change the expiration date by clicking the cogwheel.

TransferXL
TransferXL is a service very similar to WeTransfer. Even the appearance of the website is a bit reminiscent of its competitor, although there are small differences in the operation. A big advantage of TransferXL is that, just like with WeTransfer, you don’t need an account to send files. And last but not least, even the free version of TransferXL has no file size limit.
Go to transferxl.com and click in the middle of the screen Adding files. Select the file on your computer and click To open. By the Controlkey (or Command on Macs) while selecting, you can upload multiple files at once. You can go through the same steps here as with WeTransfer (own e-mail address, e-mail address of recipient, possibly a message), but you can also choose to share the file via Facebook or Twitter, or copy the link and randomly sent to the recipient. Receiving is the same as with WeTransfer: click on the link and simply download the file.
