Are selfies a bit too common for you? Then try Bellus3D, an app that makes three-dimensional self-portraits. Unfortunately, it is not yet available in the App Store; we explain how to download the app.
Bellus3D: Take 3D selfies with your iPhone X
Bellus3D is an app that allows you to take real 3D selfies. The advanced TrueDepth camera of the iPhone X is used for this. After starting up, the app asks you to slowly move your head in various directions. Your face is now scanned at more than 250,000 different points and completely recreated.
When you are satisfied with the result, save the photo and possibly share it directly as a 3D message on Facebook. According to the developer, it is the first app of its kind and therefore the functionality is still limited.
For example, in upcoming versions it should be possible to save the result directly as a .3d file. This allows you to use your self-portrait directly in AI and VR applications. In the future, other developers will also be able to use the special selfies in their own apps.
To download
The app is currently only available as a beta version and cannot be found in the App Store. However, downloading and installing is easy.
This is how you install Bellus3D:
- Go to the developer’s website;
- Enter your details and press ‘Sign Up’;
- After approval you will receive a download link via e-mail;
- Follow the steps during installation and you can get started.
We have not come across any cases where people have rejected their application. It may take a few hours before you receive the download code. Of course, the app only works on the iPhone X, due to the camera technology used.
