YouTube Premium family plan is getting more expensive in these countries

One of the benefits of having a family plan is the price. You are usually cheaper than with several separate subscriptions. That also applies to the YouTube Premium family membership, only there is less good news for these customers now.

YouTube Premium is getting more expensive

Google is going to increase the price of the family plan in a number of countries. Several customers in the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Argentina, Turkey and Japan have received an email stating this. That reports 9to5Google. For US and Canadian subscribers, the price will be increased by $5 from 17.99 to 22.99 dollars. The other YouTube Premium subscriptions remain untouched for the time being.

It is unknown why this price increase is being implemented. According to the support site from YouTube, Google may adjust its membership prices from time to time to keep up with changes in the market, such as inflation and local tax changes.

YouTube Premium was launched in the Netherlands in 2018. A subscription still costs 11.99 euros per month. A family subscription for YouTube Premium, which you can use with up to five others, costs 17.99 euros per month. If we get a price increase, it seems that the family subscription to YouTube Premium will cost 22.99 euros per month.

Should it actually come to that, Google will inform you about a price increase at least 30 days in advance. For example, if the price for new users is increased on September 1, the higher rate will not be charged until the next billing cycle in October.
