Audi working on electric flagship ‘Artemis’

Audi starts a new project called ‘Artemis’. According to Audi, this should accelerate the development of EVs, autonomous driving and new related technologies. In the short term, a so-called ‘halo car’ will emerge that shows the future of electric Audis.

About three months ago, it was announced that Audi will take a ‘leading role’ within the Volkswagen Group. All R&D for the group will be the responsibility of Audi. “With the new division of tasks, we can manage future challenges in a more flexible and focused manner,” said CEO Bram Schot at the time. It seems that a major step is now being taken in this area under the name Artemis. According to Audi, that project focuses on ‘accelerated model development’ and should become a ‘blueprint for future car development within the entire Volkswagen Group’.

Nice plans, but what does it mean in concrete terms? The main goal of Artemis is the development of electric and far-reaching autonomous driving. The first really concrete task is the development of a ‘highly efficient electric car’, which according to Audi should come on the market in 2024. So a somewhat mysterious newcomer. Audi is also talking about a ‘halo car’, a new flagship with the latest developments in electric and autonomous driving on board. It is said that it should be built in record time. So we may see some of this before 2024. At least the E-Tron GT is still planned for that time, but Artemis is already focusing on the next generation of EVs.
