For China: JAC Jiayue X7

The Chinese JAC has drawn the digital canvas of the Jiayue X7, a car that does not get Western European asphalt under its wheels through the official channels, but which is no less interesting as a result.

JAC Motors is a Chinese state-owned company that was founded in 1964 as Hefei Jianghuai Automobile. The manufacturer is now taking the Jiayue X7 to the podium, a new SUV that, with its length of 4.77, technically nestles between cars such as the BMW X3 and X5. JAC has had the Refine S7 on the menu since 2017, but the Jiagyue X7 does not seem to replace it. The Jiayue X7 is 1.9 meters wide and 1.76 meters high. The wheelbase is 2.75 meters.

The Jiayue X7 has a carriage on which we come across a handful of well-known design elements. For example, the front of the SUV, like various models of Citroën and cars such as the Hyundai Kona and Jeep Compass, has a thin LED strip where you expect the headlights. The actual headlights are one floor below. At the rear we find lighting units that are connected by a red light bar that is so popular today. At the bottom of the buttock not two, but even four tailpipes.

Inside, the Jiayue X7 is also typically a child of its time. Centrally located on the dashboard a semi-detached, wide infotainment screen and behind the steering wheel we observe a digital instrumentation. The interior looks quite sleek, including a large storage compartment in the center tunnel and only a small amount of buttons. At least on the engine list JAC puts a 175 hp and 250 Nm powerful 1.5, a blown petrol engine that is linked to a six-speed manual gearbox, but it can also be supplied with a six-speed automatic transmission with double clutch. In the second quarter of this year, the Jiayue X7 will go on sale in China. He does not come to our part of the world. Is that a loss?
