Harley-Davidson launches "Fast Johnny" collection

Harley-Davidson has released a special “Fast Johnnie” edition of its Road Glide, Street Glide and Low Rider ST Bagger models as an addition to the Enthusiast Motorcycle Collection. With the introduction of “Fast Johnnie,” Harley celebrates muscle car culture and its rich racing history. Combined production is limited to no more than 2,000 models worldwide.

The Enthusiast Motorcycle Collection models are inspired by the countless stories and timeless legacy of Harley-Davidson riders. Fast Johnnie’s livery harkens back to iconic design themes seen on high-performance muscle cars and pony cars of the 1960s and 1970s: contrasting “race” or “rally” stripes over a bold base color, and a smart or symbolic character or logo in the graphic pack.

Both elements served to create a clear visual difference between the high-performance version of a car and the standard version of the same model. The Fast Johnnie character embossed on the left side of the fuel tank is also found on the motorcycles raced by the factory Harley-Davidson Screamin’ Eagle team in the MotoAmerica King of the Baggers series.

It is inspired by the story of a piglet named Johnnie, who was adopted in 1920 by Harley-Davidson driver and member of the infamous “Wrecking Crew”, Ray Weishaar, and became the team mascot. The piglet regularly sat on a racer’s tank during the post-race victory lap and is often cited as the source of the nickname “Hog” that is still used today for all things Harley-Davidson has.

Brad Richards, Harley-Davidson Vice President of Design and Creative Director

“The graphic effect of the striping is a powerful signal to the generation that came of age in this era, and is still impactful today. The base color Celestial Blue we chose for Fast Johnnie is a deep bow to a popular color from the muscle car era. For the graphic striping, we created a custom white color formulated to authentically represent the era, executed in a classic narrow-wide-narrow pattern on the sides and top of the bike’s bodywork. The look is a nod to pure, traditional Americana.”

On the tank and front fender, “Harley-Davidson” in script letter replaces one of the thin stripe elements. Depending on the model, the striping is applied to the front and rear fenders, the top and sides of the fuel tank, the front of the fairing, and the side covers and saddlebags. The Enthusiast Motorcycle Collection logo is on the rear fender.
