Moto Morini launches the X-Cape 700

Moto Morini has expanded its adventurous line-up with the X-Cape 700, the new bigger brother of the X-Cape 650-the first model with which Morini returned to the European market. The X-Cape 700 is powered by the 693 cc parallel win that made its appearance in the Calibra at Morini.

You could say that the new X-Cape 700 in a nutshell is an X-Cape 650 with a slightly larger lung capacity, but with that you do Morini’s newest toy in the adventurous segment. Yes, he has damn many similarities with his smaller brother, but those who study the technical sheet will see a lot of differences.

Let’s start with the most obvious: the 693 cc paralletwin that made its debut in the Calibra last year. In principle, the block is the same as the 649cc Twin of the X-Cape 650, but with a 4 mm larger (64 mm) stroke, with a carpet of 83 mm. Which still makes it a relatively short battle motor.

Morini claims a top capacity of 71 hp at 8,500 rpm and a maximum torque of 68 Nm by 6,500 rpm, and that is a considerable increase compared to the 61 hp and 54 Nm of the 650. And you will definitely notice that on the street. In addition to the larger lung capacity, Morini has also fully adjusted the exhaust system, with – if you ask us – a much nicer end silencer.

The styling has also been adjusted, although you will have to put them side by side to discover the differences. However, that does not alter the fact that the new one can be clearly recognized, if only because of those big numbers 700 on the side panel of the ass, which now no longer has a grid. The contours of the nose are also formed differently in detail.

The frame appears to be identical to that of the 650, with a diamond steel frame in which the block is included as a bearing part, and an aluminum rear bridge. The suspension comes from the same suppliers – with a fully adjustable Marzocchi 50 mm upside down front fork and a Kayaba Cantilever Monoshock, the big difference is in the longer spring roads of today 175 mm in front and 165 mm. Compared to the 650, the X-Cape 700 also has a slightly longer wheelbase of 1,490 mm (1,470 mm for the X-Cape 650).

The X-Cape 700 comes standard with spoke wheels in sizes 19 “front and 17” behind, with Pirelli Scorpion Rally str ‘tires. Later this year a version with cast wheels will also be available. The brakes come from the Brembo house, the dislocable ABS from Bosch.

From the 845 mm high saddle (optional 820 mm available) you have a view of a 7 “TFT color display with Bluetooth connectivity, which can also be used as a real-time navigation. The operation goes through the switches on the handlebars, which just seem to be a little fresher, which makes the X-CAPE 700.

Of course, the X-Cape 700 can be decorated with a lot of accessories, including a three-part aluminum luggage set or a three-part saddle bag set, a rally exhaust, a rally saddle, handle heating, high and low fall brackets and an aluminum carter protection album. In addition to the aforementioned low saddle.

The X-Cape 700 is available from June at the Moto Morini dealers in the colors red, white and black, stylish Red Passion, Carrara White and Black Ebony, for the price of € 9.199. The accessories are available from the summer.
