The Chinese manufacturer Leapmotor has presented its third production model: the C11. The C11 is somewhat comparable to the Tesla Model Y on paper, but costs only a fraction of the price.
Leapmotor is a Chinese manufacturer of electric models, but we have hardly heard of it in Europe. The company was founded in 2015 and presented its first production model to the world in 2017, the S01. In 2019, the brand announced the arrival of an electric SUV, but the next car the brand would introduce was the T03. That small hatchback will now be joined by the C11, the promised electric SUV.
Leapmotor C-More Concept 2019 (forerunner of C11)
The Leapmotor C11 is a 4.75 meter long Coupé SUV, an SUV with a steeply sloping roofline. The car has a wheelbase of 2.93 meters and is 1.91 meters wide and 1.65 meters high. Its dimensions make the C11 comparable to the Tesla Model Y. Just like the Model Y, the C11 is available in various versions. The slip-on has a single electric motor that drives the rear wheels, but you are not short of power in that version. The electric motor delivers 272 hp and 360 Nm and thus the C11 sprints to a speed of 100 km / h in just under 8 seconds. This basic version has a battery pack with a capacity of 76.6 kWh, good for an electric range of 480 kilometers (NEDC). The entry-level user cannot handle a DC charger.
Higher on the menu is the C11 with two electric motors. This four-wheel drive version is 544 hp and 720 Nm strong. With that lot of electrical power, the C11 sprints in 7.9 counts to a speed of 100 km / h. If you check the Performance Edition, the 0-100 sprint time is reduced to only 4.8 seconds. In the bottom of the 544 hp C11s is a 90 kWh battery pack, good for a NEDC range of 600 kilometers. However, the Performance Edition comes 550 kilometers away. On a DC fast charger, the 90 kWh battery pack can be filled from 30 to 80 percent of its capacity with electricity in less than 40 minutes.

The C11 includes recessed handles and is available with a large panoramic glass roof. The interior of the C11 is packed with displays. For example, in the dashboard we find not only a screen behind the steering wheel and on the center console, but also directly in front of the passenger. In addition, the C11 is available with software and hardware that makes autonomous driving (level 3) possible. The starting price of the C11 in China has been set at € 19,950. The 90 kWh variant changes ownership from € 22,450. The Performance Edition is with a starting price of just under € 25,000. Leapmotor has no plans to sell its stuff in Europe yet.
