Locket is a new and wildly popular app for your iPhone. The app has recently gone viral on TikTok. But what is Locket and what exactly can you do with this app? iPhoned tells you!
Locket Widget: really the best app on iPhone
What makes Locket (actually Locket Widget) so much fun? You can best compare the app with a kind of digital photo frame for your iPhone. Make friends with Locket a photo and everyone who has (and has been added) the app will see the photo taken. And the nice thing about this is that you can set the app as a widget and you can immediately see the photo on your home screen.
The app is currently high in the App Store rankings and was a real hit on TikTok. Too bad: at the moment Locket Widget is only available for the iPhone and it is not possible to add friends with an Android device. The Locket app is not available on Android in the Google Play Store.
Set up locket on iPhone (also as widget)
Before you can send photos to each other, you need to set up Locket. Start the app and enter your phone number. You will then receive a message with a code to verify your data. Then you give your name and you can add up to five of your contacts to your Locket app. Once you’ve done that, the app is ready to use.
What you still have to do (to make it really fun) is to set the app as a widget on your home screen. You do this in the following way:
Set Locket Widget as widget on your iPhone
- Tap an empty spot with your finger until the apps start to wiggle;
- Press the button with the plus sign (top left);
- In the search box, type ‘Locket’ and tap the corresponding app icon;
- Select the desired size of the widget and tap ‘Add widget’;
- Drag the widget to the desired location.
Use locket: this is how you forward photos
The Locket app is very easy to use. You start the app, take a photo and send it. There are no separate settings or filters that you can use. When you’ve taken the photo in Locket, tap the arrow button to forward the photo to your friends’ iPhones. Did the photo fail? Then tap the cross and take the photo again.
With the ‘History’ button you can see an overview of all the photos that you and your friends have sent to each other. If you really like one of the photos, you can also save the image here in your Photos app.
