Suzuki is further rolling out its Smart Hybrid technology. As of next month, the Swift Sport will also be equipped with it.

The Suzuki Swift Sport gets mild hybrid technology on board. Suzuki calls this technique Smart Hybrid and already applies it to various other models. The Swift Sport is a 48-volt system, in which an electric motor serves as a starter motor and generator and supports acceleration. As a result, more power is available at low revs and fuel consumption and CO2 emissions are reduced.

Despite the addition of the extra technology, Suzuki has managed to keep the car weight below 1,000 kilos. The 48 Volt battery and the inverter for the other electrical systems are placed under the driver’s seat, so that the weight distribution of the sporty model is not disturbed. The 1.4 BoosterJet petrol engine delivers 129 hp unchanged.

At the same time as the introduction of Smart Hybrid, Suzuki is expanding the equipment of the Swift Sport with a package of safety systems, including a line assistant, a blind spot sensor, a system that warns of crossing traffic when reversing, parking sensors and a traffic sign reader. Furthermore, the Swift is now always provided with metallic paint. A new color option is orange in combination with a black roof.

New option pack: ス ポ ー ツ

ス ポ ー ツ (Supōtsu) is Sport in Japanese and the name of a new option pack. Its contents include leather upholstery, special striping, specific badges and a modified grille. Suzuki asks for 1,899 euros for the package. The price of the Suzuki Swift Sport is, despite the new technology and equipment, unchanged at 25,399 euros. The latest version will be delivered from next month.
