Today the new generation BMW 2 Series Active Tourer debuts. In February 2022, the all-rounder will be on the market with four fuel engines, with or without mild hybrid technology.

BMW introduces us to the all-new BMW 2 Series Active Tourer. It is designed in such a way that it can accommodate both combustion and electrical technology. Four versions with a fuel engine will appear at market launch in February 2022. A few months later, two plug-in hybrid versions will follow with which up to 80 km can be driven electrically, according to the WLTP test results.

The first petrol versions to be released will be the 218i with a three-cylinder 136 hp engine; the 220i with three-cylinder (156 hp) with 48V mild hybrid; and the 223i four-cylinder (204 hp) with the same mild hybrid technology. The 14 kW / 19 hp electric motor can provide a boost when accelerating. The diesel engine in the 218d is a four-cylinder 150 hp. All versions are fitted with the seven-speed Steptronic dual clutch transmission as standard.

BMW has worked on a sportier-looking appearance. The interior has been radically redesigned, with minimal controls, large storage compartments and new, comfortably adjustable seats. The rear seat is not only adjustable by 13 cm, it also has a ‘cargo position’ with which the luggage space can be increased by 95 liters. Depending on the version, the load space is a minimum of 415 and a maximum of 1,455 litres.

The 10.25 cm large BMW Curved Display – which can be operated by touch or voice – immediately catches the eye. It is one of the new infotainment and assistance systems that the 2 Series Active Tourer is rich. Others include the new parking functions, or Front Collision Warning, which detects oncoming traffic, including cyclists and pedestrians. The cloud data-based BMW Maps navigation system can be optionally equipped with Augmented View on the instrument panel.
