Opel will deliver the Rocks-e in the Netherlands. The compact urban rascal, the German twin brother of the Citroën Ami, will soon be Opel’s new entry-level model. 16-year-olds can purchase it with a moped certificate. Opel will deliver the Rocks-e for the first time in the second quarter, but the exact starting price of the little one is not yet known.

Opel pulled the curtain off the Rocks-e in August last year. The city car is in fact a Citroën Ami with an Opel sauce, which is especially apparent from the changed strip at the LED daytime running lights, the emblems and the other hubcaps. The Rocks-e is 2.41 meters long, weighs 471 kilograms and has a battery pack of 5.5 kWh. You can fully recharge the battery at home in 3.5 hours, but you can also charge it at a public charging station via an adapter. The top speed of the Rocks-e is 45 km/h and the WLTP range is 75 km. You can still make a few rounds around Amsterdam. Because the Rocks-e is known as a microcar, you do not need a B driving license for it.

The Rocks-e will in fact become the Citroën Ami for the Dutch market. After all, Citroën does not carry the Ami here. Opel does not report the starting price of the Rocks-e yet, but says that it will be below €10,000 anyway. That seems plausible to us, since the Rocks-e is on the price list in Germany for €7,990. However, the Rocks-e can be further personalized with the ‘Klub’ and ‘Tekno’ versions. These hip-sounding names include a gray body with black stripes on the sides. In the case of the ‘Klub’, gray is the main theme of the Rocks-e, the ‘Tekno’ adds yellow skid plates under the bumpers.

Opel continues these color schemes into the interior, where the inserts around the instrumentation and center console are in gray or yellow depending on the version. LED lighting and a panoramic roof are standard on all trim levels. A smartphone holder on the center console, where your own phone is the infotainment system, is available on the ‘Klub’ and ‘Tekno’.

After Germany, the Netherlands is the second market for the Rocks-e. Opel will announce the prices and the date of the showroom debut at a later stage.
