The new Audi A8 has a Dutch price tag. Like everything else, the car becomes more expensive, although you do get something in return.

The first thing you notice about the price list of the new Audi A8 is that the list is a lot shorter than before. That comes as no surprise, because Audi is canceling the 50 TDI diesel versions in our country. This leaves only the plug-in hybrid 60 TFSIe and the mighty S8.

The hybrid is available from €124,145. This roughly costs what the deleted diesel version first cost and is about €9,500 more expensive than the ‘old’ TFSIe. However, you also get something in return, because the new plug-in has a larger battery pack and therefore comes a lot further on power. We now even know how far exactly: approximately 59 km, against 46 km for the outgoing model. As a bonus, there is also extra power, because the plug-in A8 now produces 462 instead of 449 hp.

Of course, the A8 is also available as a long A8 L. That version is 5.32 instead of 5.19 meters long and costs at least €126,775. The price difference with the ‘short’ is therefore €2,630, which is not disappointing.

The supreme – for this model – S8 is only available as a ‘short’ and delivers as usual 571 hp from a thick V8. That also means 260 instead of 43 grams of CO2, and that is reflected in the price. The S8 costs at least €193,885. However, the price difference with the predecessor remains within limits, because that ‘old’ S8 also cost about 191 mille.

Options

Of course, the prices mentioned are only starting prices, because the options list is long. New is the S Line exterior package, which gives the regular A8 a sporty sauce for €1,906. Those who like to keep people away can dress the A8 a bit more sinister with a new ‘optics package black’ of €1,400. Not black enough? Then tick the ‘Optics package black with black Audi rings’, for €1,751. The new ‘Digital Matrix LED headlamps’ are available for €2,548, but then you can choose from 2 different ‘light signatures’ for the corresponding OLED taillights.
