Oldest holder no less than 106 years old

Never before have there been so many Dutch driving licences. There are currently 11,626,069 Dutch people with a valid driver’s license, writes NU.nl. A record number. The oldest person with a driver’s license is a whopping 106 years old.
In order to arrive at the total number of driving licenses, the Rijksdienst voor het Wegverkeer (RDW) adds all types of driving licenses together. This therefore does not only concern holders of a car driving licence, but also those of, for example, only a moped or tractor driving licence. Please note: this is the number of people. Even if you have a truck, motorcycle and car driver’s license: you count for one. In total, the Netherlands now has more than 11.6 million driving license holders.
At the beginning of this year, there were still about 11.1 million. An increase of half a million driving license holders in less than a year is significant. The fairly high number is probably partly due to the fact that driving lessons were stopped for a longer period in 2020 and 2021 due to the corona measures. This year is largely measure-free, so that taking lessons and taking exams is again fully possible.
Relatively many people over 75
In recent years, however, the group of driving license holders that grew the fastest in relative terms was the group of over-75s. This is evident from figures from Statistics Netherlands and is in line with the aging trend. The oldest driving license holder in the Netherlands is no less than 106 years old, reports NU.nl. The news site does not report when the person got his driver’s license. A driver’s license has been compulsory since 1905. This raises the question: in which car would the oldest driving license holder in the Netherlands have learned it?
