In two teaser videos, Renault shows a glimpse of two new EVs: a concept car on a new modular platform and the production version of the Dacia Spring.
At the moment, the choice at Renault is not really huge when it comes to EVs, but it is no secret that the French are working on an expansion of the electric range. For example, Dacia adds an electric little one to its delivery range: the Spring. The concept version of the Dacia Spring was already unveiled in March this year, in July there were pattent drawings that gave a good indication of what the production version will look like. Renault has already promised that the Spring will be the cheapest electric car in Europe, which makes the newcomer very interesting. The only known figures about the model so far are the length of 3.73 meters and the WLTP range of 200 kilometers.
In addition to the Dacia Spring, Renault comes with a concept car for an electric ‘hatchback’, although it could just be a crossover. The teaser still leaves quite a bit to the imagination. The Renault logo is illuminated and an LED strip runs across the entire width of the front. Above that, small light stripes are visible that are somewhat reminiscent of the daytime running lights of modern Audis.
The concept car, whose name is not yet known, is on Renault’s new CMF-EV platform. That platform has already been used for the Nissan Ariya and the Renault Morphoz Concept was also on it. Specifications of the new electric Renault have not yet been released, but it is quite possible that they will be similar to those of the Nissan Ariya. The top version has all-wheel drive, 306 hp and, thanks to a battery pack of 87 kWh, has a WLTP range of 500 km.
Next Thursday, October 15, we will know more. Then the pair is presented.
