According to rumors, the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra will not get a major camera upgrade. The device will probably get the same 10 MP telephoto lenses. These lenses make it possible to zoom in 3x and 10x optically. Will the S23 Ultra get a new 200 MP main camera?
It’s only June, but already rumors
The Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra will probably not be announced until February of 2023. And yes I know, it’s only June 2022. Nevertheless, rumors and renders of the new flagship from Samsung have been appearing since last month. Today there is a new rumor. According to information from Galaxy Club the Galaxy S23 Ultra will not get a camera upgrade. At least when it comes to zooming. It is not yet clear whether the device will get a new main camera. Previous renders did show a 200MP main camera on the S23 Ultra.
Same telephoto cameras
The Galaxy S23 will therefore probably get the same telephoto lenses as those on the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra. And this phone again features the same camera island as the one on the Galaxy S21 Ultra. We see on both devices the same 108 MP main camera, 12 MP wide-angle lens, 10 MP telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom and a 10 MP telephoto lens with 10x optical zoom. Samsung has therefore not improved the hardware in its new flagship, but has made the software and image processing better on the other hand. The telephoto lenses of the S22 Ultra are also quite good, and on the one hand it is great that Samsung is going to try to get even more out of this in the software area. On the other hand, they are quite small sensors and so the telephoto lenses are not the best we have ever seen on the market. In our opinion, the best telephoto lens is still the lens of the Huawei P40 Pro Plus.
New 200MP camera?
As mentioned above, there are renders and rumors that the S23 Ultra will get a 200 MP main camera. This will then be the Samsung ISOCELL HP3 sensor. This sensor will have to be the successor to the ISOCELL HP 1 sensor, a sensor that we will probably see on the Motorola Edge 30 Ultra. However, these are early rumours. Again, it’s only June we wait patiently.
