Samsung has released a beta version of One UI 5 for the Galaxy S22. Beta participants can already try the user interface and customizable features of the latest software shell on the S22.

Samsung makes a test version of its latest software shell available for the latest flagships every year. This year it concerns One UI 5, which is based on Android 13. This software can now be tested on the Samsung Galaxy S22, the Samsung Galaxy S22 Plus and the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra.

Color palettes, widgets and notifications

The Color Palette feature is getting an upgrade in One UI 5, based on Google’s Material You theme system. In One UI 5, users get 16 preset color themes based on their wallpaper and 12 additional color options for their home screens, icons and quick settings.

In addition, users can further customize their home screens by stacking widgets of the same size in one location. In this way, according to Samsung, space can be saved and a tighter, more organized whole can be created.

One UI 5 also offers an easier way to customize notifications for different apps. For example, notifications from certain apps can be blocked more easily via new controls.

Sounds and Vibration

In One UI 5, Samsung has changed the settings of sound and vibration also taken care of. For example, the menus that provide access to all ringtone volumes and vibration intensities have been simplified.

A new feature in Android 13 is the ability to set per app in which language it is displayed. Samsung takes over this function in One UI 5. Galaxy users will soon be able to adjust their preferred language for different apps. In Settings can then be indicated which language should be used for which app.

Extended Wi-Fi Settings

The Wi-Fi settings have also been overhauled and not just a little bit. For example, there are a new developer options under Settings -> WiFi -> Intelligent Wi-Fi. That discovered Android Police. There is also a new dashboard that displays the phone’s security status. It shows if there are any security vulnerabilities and then there are recommendations to fix them. One UI 5 also brings more accessibility options to make it easier for users to interact with their devices. So there is the function Magnifying glass which should help users read better, while various types of voice assistance, such as audio descriptions of videos and speaking keyboard input aloud, should help users navigate more easily.

Want to try One UI 5? Then you need a Samsung Galaxy S22 with country code EUX. Interested parties can sign up for the beta program through the Samsung Members app as usual. After that, they can download the beta firmware.
