For years, Sony has been releasing beautiful smartphones under the Xperia line, such as the Xperia 1 IV. Sony is now launching two new smartphones: the Xperia 1 VI and the Xperia 10 VI. With these smartphones, the focus is on taking the best possible photos. Read the article about Sony Xperia 1 VI here.

Design
The Xperia 1 VI has a beautiful design, is very handy and has a better grip thanks to the rounded tempered glass material. The phone itself is quite light at 164 grams. In addition, the Xperia 1 VI has a matte finish, making it less sensitive to fingerprints. The Xperia 1 VI is available in black, platinum silver, and khaki green. The Xperia 1 VI also has an IP65 and 68 certification, so you don’t have to worry about raindrops.
Display
Here we will take a closer look at the screen, an important part of smartphones. The Xperia 1 VI has a BRAVIA display with AI remastering technology. This improves the contrast, color and clarity of the image, both for your own content and for streaming services. The display is 1.5 times brighter than that of the Xperia 1 V, making it clearly visible even in bright environments. The Sunlight Vision on Xperia 1 VI provides improved outdoor visibility by brightening the image using real-time analysis of frames and ambient brightness.
Processor, memory and Wi-Fi 7
The Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 Mobile Platform in the Xperia 1 VI offers good performance in camera, audio, gaming and display. The addition of the new FPS Optimizer feature in Game Enhancer dynamically optimizes CPU usage and frame rates. With support for Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen3 Mobile Platform Elite Gaming, the Xperia 1 VI guarantees smooth gaming experiences and fast video playback.
It has 12 GB of working memory (RAM) and 256 GB of storage memory, which you can expand to 1.5 TB thanks to the micro SD slot.
It also supports Wi-Fi 7 for fast data exchange.

Cameras
Sony focuses a lot on cameras with its Xperia devices and that certainly applies to the Xperia 1 VI. It has a telephoto zoom lens that lets you zoom in up to 7.1x for detailed shots at long distances, with a focal length of 85mm to 170mm. Sony claims that its macro functionality makes this lens ideal for taking beautiful portraits and creating a bokeh effect. The 24mm wide-angle lens features the “Exmor T for mobile” sensor, which offers good low-light performance and fast autofocus (AF), including people AF tracking. Using AI technology, the Xperia 1 VI can recognize the human body via the rear camera, which should enable accurate AF tracking, even in challenging situations where obstacles block the view. This advanced feature ensures consistent and precise tracking, making it easier for users to capture images in different environments.

This upgrade offers a wide range of tools, including shooting modes such as PSM and customizable color settings such as Creative Look. In addition, Touch Tracking can now automatically set brightness and color adjustments. With the introduction of the new Pro Video mode, which offers detailed settings for video, you can capture both photos and videos with precision.
Sound
The speakers have been improved with less distortion at high volumes and optimized low frequency output. The Xperia 1 VI has audio technologies and formats such as High-Resolution Audio, High-Resolution Audio Wireless, LDAC, Bluetooth LE Audio and Snapdragon Sound. With heat dissipation, an energy-efficient display and efficient technology, you can watch video for up to 36 hours, twice as long as before. Battery Care and Xperia Adaptive Charging prevent overload and support fast charging – 50% in 30 minutes. The battery lasts three years.
With this smartphone you have the option to share your battery (life) with other smartphones. You can use this ‘power bank function’ by charging another device via a cable, but this can also be done wirelessly.
Updates
Sony offers three new Android versions and you also have 4 years of security updates.
Price and availability
The Xperia 1 VI will be available from early June for a suggested retail price of €1,399.
