‘The Dutch don’t care much about tire pressure’

Checking the tire pressure from time to time is essential for safety, but also for the fuel consumption of your car. Yet there is a significant part of the Dutch who never check this.

This has emerged from research by an information organization Environment Central, carried out by I&O Research among 2,855 respondents. One in three drivers never checks their tire pressure. Half of the Dutch drivers know that it is recommended to check the tires at least once every two months and to inflate them to the correct pressure. Only a quarter of all drivers actually do this. Younger drivers take the cake, it turns out. More than half of drivers under the age of 25 never check the tire pressure.

When the tire pressure is too low, the tires wear out faster, there is often less grip and you use more fuel. Your car will also emit more. An important additional danger is that you could get a blowout, possibly resulting in an accident. These are all things that mean that checking the tire pressure regularly should definitely not be underestimated. You can often find the correct tire pressure for your car on a sticker on the driver’s door or on the inside of the fuel filler flap.
