13 percent of cars sold up to August were electric

15.9 percent of all cars sold in July were fully electric or plug-in hybrid models. Measured up to and including July, the share amounts to 13 percent, according to the Netherlands Enterprise Agency.

A year earlier, the share of electric vehicles was still 8.6 percent in the first seven months of the year. In particular, the number of registrations of fully electric cars was on the rise in July due to the available purchase subsidy from the government.

Ultimately 3,877 fully electric models were registered, 1,762 more than in the same month a year earlier. As a result, fully electric cars had a share of 11.1 percent in sales. The number of vehicles with plug-in hybrid powertrain increased by 1,389 units from a year earlier to 1,668 units, representing a share of 4.8 percent in July.

The number of available (semi-) public charging points is still increasing with sales and now stands at 61,397 units, including 1,462 fast chargers.
