The Suzuki Swace undergoes a power injection. The hybrid station wagon will receive 15 percent power and will soon kick it up to 140 hp. AutoWeek can report that before Suzuki itself publicizes it.
Just as the Across is in fact a Toyota RAV4 Plug-in Hybrid over which Suzuki has poured its own sauce, the Suzuki Swace is a Toyota Corolla 1.8 Touring Sports with a handful of Suzuki elements. Unlike the Corolla, the Swace is only available as a station wagon and with only one powertrain: the 1.8 Hybrid. The Toyota Corolla was recently thoroughly overhauled on a technical level and now the Suzuki Swace gets those technical adjustments.
Until recently, the Suzuki Swace had a system power of 122 hp, but thanks to a more powerful electric motor, just like the Corolla 1.8 Hybrid, it now reaches 140 hp. That’s 18 horsepower more than before, which equates to a power increase of 15 percent. Thanks to that extra muscle power, the Suzuki Swace completes the 0-100 sprint in just over 9 seconds, more than 1.5 seconds less than before. We aim for the Swace to have lost some kilos, just like the Corolla 1.8 Hybrid.
Furthermore, we know that the Suzuki Swace – indeed, like the Corolla before it – will get a system that warns if the door is opened while a vehicle or cyclist is approaching from behind. Suzuki also adds chrome accents to the Swace’s rear bumper.
The improved Suzuki Swace is still available as a Select and Style. Both versions will be almost €3,491 more expensive, about ten percent. The fiscal price of the Suzuki Swace is €34,940, that of the Style is €36,940. If we add the costs of roadworthiness, which until recently amounted to €855, we arrive at prices of €35,795 for the Select and €37,795 for the Style. We expect Suzuki to release the updated Swace and the corresponding prices soon. Then we also have all the details and images of the modified hybrid station wagon.
