The Huawei P30 Pro is undoubtedly one of the best smartphones around. With its 6.47-inch Full HD + screen, Kirin 980 processor, 8 GB of RAM and quadruple camera module developed in collaboration with Leica, the P30 Pro enjoys excellent performance and overcomes the competition in photography.
Powered by Android Pie, the Huawei P30 Pro is based on the in-house EMUI graphics overlay in version 9.1. The latter contains many hidden functions which, once known and mastered, will allow you to make the most of the latest flagship of the Chinese brand.
1. Customize the style of the home screen
On Android, two schools exist in terms of organizing the home page: those who keep only the most used applications on the home page and access the others using the dedicated drawer, and those who prefer view all their apps and organize them in folders on multiple home screen pages. With EMUI 9.1 everyone is served, Huawei allows users to choose either organization.
To personalize your Home screen, open Device Settings, then in Home screen & wallpaper, go to the Home screen style menu.

2. Activate dark mode
If the bright mode does not suit you, it is quite possible to opt for a dark mode. In addition to the aesthetic aspect, it will allow you to reduce energy consumption although the autonomy of the latter is already very generous.
To activate Dark Mode, open Settings, then in Battery, activate the Darkening function of the interface.

3. Activate and configure the Always on Display
Aside from displaying the fingerprint sensor button, the P30 Pro’s locked screen isn’t much use. However, it is possible to correct the situation by activating the permanent display which will allow you, in addition to having the date and time, to display the message or call alerts even when the screen of the device is off.
Open the Settings of the smartphone, then in Home screen & wallpaper, enter the Always-on display activated menu and activate Always-on display. After locking your screen, you should see the time, date, and remaining charge displayed.

4. Program the activation of eye comfort
As on most recent devices, the Huawei P30 Pro incorporates a function to reduce visual fatigue by filtering the blue light emitted by the screen.
To activate it manually, open Settings, enter Display, then navigate to the Eye Comfort menu where you will find a switch to activate the feature on the fly. You can, according to your preferences, modify the color temperature of the screen in order to obtain a display with a more or less yellow rendering.

But it is also possible to program the activation of Eye comfort mode. Turn off Eye Comfort and now turn on the Scheduled switch. Choose a start time and an end time for activation and confirm by pressing OK. Eye comfort mode will then activate by default during the time slot you have defined.

5. Hide the notch of the phone

By default, the P30 Pro displays a notch and uses the entire display area for compatible apps. It is however possible to opt to Conceal the notch to make it disappear permanently. The display area is then slightly reduced by the display of a black band hiding the still.
It is also possible to make it disappear on a case-by-case basis, depending on the applications on which it can be disturbing. To do this, tap on Personalize and, for each app listed, choose to show or hide it.

6. Configure gesture controls

You can activate it by going to Settings and then activating the Wireless reverse charge option in the Battery menu. All you have to do is place a wireless charging compatible device on the back of your P30 Pro to charge it.

10. Configure facial recognition in addition to the fingerprint
The fingerprint sensor built into the P30 Pro is very efficient and responsive when it comes to unlocking the screen. 12. Use the password manager
Entering passwords manually can quickly become a headache, especially when you are using complex passwords for optimal security. Huawei’s smartphone can make your job easier with its built-in password manager.
You will find it in Settings, in the Security & Privacy menu under Keychain Access.

Once activated, Keychain Access will securely store your usernames and passwords and even allow you to automatically enter your login passwords.
13. Lock some applications and Activate the private area

Open the Device settings, then in the Security & privacy menu, enter Application lock. 14. Protect your sensitive data by encrypting it
Another possibility to protect your most sensitive data is to encrypt it by placing it in the P30 Pro safe. Open Settings, enter Security & Privacy, and go to the Safe menu.

Press Create to initiate the creation of your safe and select the location where you want to store it. Set your password, confirm it and tap Next. Answer the security questions and confirm by pressing OK. Your safe is created, all you have to do is fill it by pressing Add and selecting the items you want to encrypt.

15. Turn your smartphone into a PC
The P30 Pro can also transform into a desktop computer. To do this, simply connect it to a computer screen or TV using a USB-C> HDMI cable. The interface transforms and displays a desktop environment like on a real computer.
