Last month, the joint car companies sold 99,276 used passenger cars. That is more than nine percent less than the same month last year, according to the statistics from Bovag and RDC. Nevertheless, 2020 seems to be a great occasion year. Bovag even hopes for a record year.
The dismal new sales figures were unfortunately not made up for by the department last month. That was different before, because many people were looking for an alternative to public transport because of corona. Last month, the trade in used cars between private individuals (C2C) already started to decline, this trend is now continuing to the so-called B2C trade. A total of 99,276 used cars were sold by companies to private individuals, more than 9 percent less than November last year. Private individuals traded 54,740 used cars among themselves, a minus of 12 percent.
But if we look further than our noses, we see a happier image. In the longer term, the used car market still looks very good. Cumulatively, 1,185,061 second-hand cars went to a new owner via the specialist trade and 681,075 units went directly from the previous owner to the new owner. Based on this, Bovag expects 2020 to be a record year with more than two million used car transactions for the first time in a calendar year.
