2025 Speed Twin 900: fresher, improved and new technologies

Introduced in 2015 – at the time still under the name Street Twin – Triumph has extensively updated the retro classic, which was renamed the Speed Twin 900 two years ago. The British speak of a renewed style that recombines the design DNA of the Speed Twin for a sleeker, sportier and more dynamic look.

2025 Speed Twin 900: fresher, improved and new technologies

A new fresh look, an improved chassis and the application of new technology for more confidence and more convenience, that is the 2025 Speed Twin 900 in a nutshell, according to Triumph.

The new Speed Twin 900 offers [quote] a much more contemporary feel and effortless maneuverability thanks to an upside-down front fork with matching sporty mudguards and fork protectors at the front [einde quote]. At the rear, a new aluminum swingarm and rear shocks with piggy-back reservoir are combined with a narrower rear frame with a slimmer mudguard and compact rear light.

According to the British, this together should have ensured dynamic driving and a sportier style, while retaining the classic appearance and appeal of the Speed Twin. The timeless saddle is now slimmer and shaped to better support the rider when cornering, while also offering more legroom for a more spacious feeling.

Triumph’s Chief Product Officer Steve Sargent:

“The styling of this new Speed Twin 900 has evolved to a sleeker and more dynamic design whilst retaining the classic design features that provide that timeless style. The bike is also more agile and easier to handle, as we have made changes to the chassis and equipment that together makes a big difference.”

“From conversations with our customers we know that the enduring appeal of the Speed Twin 900 is also down to premium equipment, top quality workmanship and great reliability, and a badge on the tank that owners are proud of. Our ambition is, as always, to deliver more of what motorcyclists value.”

The new, sportier fuel tank is deeply sculpted, with chiselled side panels and stylized throttle body covers, introducing more purposeful, dynamic lines. The engine cases (whatever that means) are slimmer, the silencer shorter and the headlight more compact.

In terms of detailing, Triumph has covered the 2025 version with the same authentic retro sauce as its predecessor, with beautifully machined cooling fins, headlight brackets with fins and black braided stainless steel exhaust bends, shorter, upright rear silencers and polished end caps. This look is carried through to every detail, including a new aluminum flip-up fuel cap and a simpler design for the heel protectors and footpegs.

Triumph has equipped the 2025 Speed Twin 900 with Marzocchi suspension, of which the 43 mm upside down is not adjustable and the double rear shocks with Piggy-back reservoir have adjustable spring preload. The front fork has 120 mm of travel, at the rear this has been reduced by 10 mm from 120 mm to 110 mm. A new stiffer and lighter aluminum swingarm should have provided better control over the bike.

The new wheels are fitted with Michelin Road Classic tires and mated to a powerful and progressive four-piston radial brake caliper from the Triumph brand, mounted on a larger 320 mm front disc, allowing the Speed Twin 900 to brake and change direction even sharper . The seating position has been adjusted to be as natural as possible and now offers more legroom. The saddle has a new shape to complement the narrower rear frame.

The Speed Twin 900 is powered by the 900cc version of the parallel twin, good for a top power of 65 hp at 7,500 rpm and a maximum torque of 80 Nm at 3,800 rpm. Which, according to Triumph, is accompanied by an ‘intoxicating’ sound.

Naturally, the engine has ride-by-wire throttle control, which has the advantage that driving modes can be implemented: Road and Rain, the latter having a softer throttle response. All of this depends on the angle of inclination, the Optimized Cornering ABS and Traction Control are standard, but you will have to pay extra for cruise control.

The new instrument cluster offers greater functionality and features a large, clear LCD screen for revs, speed and acceleration, with an integrated TFT screen for additional information such as driving mode.

The TFT is compatible with the accessory heated grips and the Bluetooth connectivity module, which provides turn-by-turn navigation and the ability to view and control phone calls and music from your phone. A USB-C connection is also mounted on the side of the unit, allowing mobile devices to be easily charged.

The new Speed Twin 900 has three striking color options. Motorcyclists can choose from a sporty Pure White color scheme with bright blue and orange stripes on the tank, a stylish Phantom Black tank with dark gray stripes and gold accents or a stylish Aluminum Silver version with a touch of red around the Triumph logo. The engine can – of course – be reset to 35 kW for the A2 driving license.

Prices from €11,495 in the Netherlands and €9,995 in Belgium, available from February 2025 at the Triumph dealer.
