24 Hours of Le Mans postponed

The Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA) reports that the starting signal for the 24 Hours of Le Mans will not sound in June. The race classic will be held at a later date due to concerns about the possible further spread of the coronavirus.

The Le Mans 24 Hours was initially scheduled for June 13 and 14, but here too the corona virus throws a spanner in the works. The classic will not be dropped, but will take place at a later date.

The launch of the Le Mans 24 Hours will sound more than three months later, on September 19. “It goes without saying that we are committed to ensuring the quality of safety during our events,” the FIA wrote in a statement. Most likely, postponing the Le Mans 24 Hours also means the new hypercar racing class, which will be seen in action for the first time on September 5. That racing class is extra interesting because car manufacturers have to homologate their race cars. Toyota, among other things, therefore comes with a powerful hypercar for public roads.
