We wrote earlier that we are impressed by the Porsche Taycan. And so are we with the Audi E-Tron GT. He is a fraction more comfortable than his brother from another mother, but always stands his ground when performance is called for. It’s very expensive, but without a doubt one of the best electric cars on the market. It took some searching, but we found three advantages and disadvantages of the E-Tron GT.
The Audi E-Tron GT is available from 106,435 euros. It can be compared with the Porsche Taycan 4S with Performance Battery Plus (116,431 euros). It has a power of 530 hp (in boost mode), four-wheel drive and a top speed of 245 km/h. Its 93.4 kWh battery (gross capacity) provides a range of up to 487 kilometers. The E-Tron GT is 80 percent full again after 23 minutes on a 270 kW fast charger.
The top model of the E-Tron GT series is the RS, which delivers a power of 598 hp, with 646 hp in overboost for a short time. It goes to 100 km/h in less than 3.5 seconds, leaving the Porsche Taycan Turbo and Turbo S ahead of the curve. These are respectively 680 and 761 hp strong, with the Turbo S only needing 2.8 seconds to reach 100 km/h.
Advantage 1 – The short charging times of the E-Tron GT
It’s great that the Audi E-Tron GT is full again so quickly! During our test week, we never charged anywhere for longer than 20 minutes.
Benefit 2 – Saving tips in the infotainment system
The E-Tron GT thinks along with you. He indicates how you can optimize the range of the car as much as possible. Hint: turn off your air conditioning.
Advantage 3 – The appearance of the Audi is popular
Ooh! ah! The Audi attracted a lot of attention on the road and at charging stations. We – and apparently others too – think the E-Tron GT is exceptionally beautiful.
Disadvantage 1 – Very limited space in the back of the E-Tron GT
The Audi E-Tron GT is apparently made for prayer, because you can only sit in the back seat with your head bowed.
Disadvantage 2 – Interior with lesser materials here and there
We can argue about this, but we don’t think this shiny Tic Tac plastic is possible in an electric car of more than one ton.
Disadvantage 3 – The view to the outside does not last
We don’t like to talk about the past. But then you could at least have a decent look outside from your car.
