3 ways Dropbox makes collaborating with colleagues easier

The latest Dropbox update makes collaborating with colleagues a lot easier. Among other things, you can immediately see what everyone is doing and leave feedback faster. We discuss the three most important innovations.

Dropbox update makes collaboration with colleagues easier

Dropbox is one of the most popular storage services. When the parent company went public at the beginning of this year, it was announced that it wanted to improve the mobile app. The company is delivering on this promise and has rolled out an update. This is made for teams in which colleagues work together on projects. These are the main improvements.

1. Know what your colleagues are doing

First, it becomes more convenient to keep track of what your colleagues (or classmates) are currently doing. From now on you can see at a glance per file who has made changes. Users with a Dropbox Advanced subscription (or more expensive) can also see which colleagues have opened the file and who have not.

This should make it easier to collaborate within teams, Dropbox says in the press release. Calling and emailing each other to find out who is reviewing a document is no longer necessary.

2. Leave immediate feedback

Secondly, the chat system has also been overhauled. When you open the preview of a file from now on, you will find a chat window at the bottom of the screen. Here you can, for example, leave directions for colleagues or give feedback. Before the update, you had to go to a separate window to send messages.

3. New home screen

Dropbox has also added a home screen, where you can see at a glance what your team is doing. For example, you can pin important files here. In addition, subtle improvements have also been added. An example of this is the ‘drag & drop’ option for iOS 11, which allows you to organize folders and files by dragging and dropping them.

The update will roll out in phases to all iPhones and iPad. So it may take a while before you have it inside.
